Despite earning his second NTT P1 Award of the season and the 13th of his career, Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin will start this afternoon’s Snap-On Makers and Fixers 250 from 10th following an engine change penalty.

McLaughlin, whose last win came in Race 2 of the 2024 Milwaukee Mile Doubleheader (32 races ago), earned Penske’s 311th INDYCAR pole and first since teammate David Malukas in Phoenix earlier this year.

McLaughlin ran the fastest lap of the session for Lap 1-165.536 mph (22.0736 seconds) and ties Greg Ray, Simon Pagenaud and Ryan Briscoe for 28th all-time with 13 career INDYCAR poles.

Despite qualifying second and third Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou and McLaughlin’s teammate David Malukas will also serve penalties from respective engine changes. Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, who won Race 1 in the 2024 doubleheader, leads the 25-car field to green for Saturday’s 250-lap race on the 1.015-mile oval in West Alis, Wisconsin.

O’Ward lines up alongside Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, who led Friday’s lone practice session. for Race 1. Andretti Global’s Will Power (2014 Milwaukee winner) and Dale Coyne Racing’s rookie Dennis Hauger occupy Race 2 as Honda looks for their first win at Milwaukee since 2011 (Dario Franchitti).

After respective crashes in Friday’s practice, Christian Rasmussen (18th and 17th), Kyle Kirkwood (22nd and 24th) and Nolan Siegel (25th for both races) made it back out for their attempts in qualifying, where Lap 1 and Lap each determined the lineups for the weekend’s pair of races.

In addition to McLaughlin, Palou and Malukas- the Juncos Hollinger Racing duo of Rinus VeeKay and Sting Ray Robb will incur penalties after qualifying 19th and 23rd for Race 1. The qualified 12th and 23rd for Sunday’s race.

For Sunday’s Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250, Palou earned his eighth pole of 2026 and 114th for CGR as he looks to wrap up the 2026 Championship this weekend as he increases that lead to 93 points over Kirkwood with three races to go. Palou also ties Gordon Johncock at 15th all-time with his 20th INDYCAR pole.

O’Ward and Newgarden line up second and third with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Mick Schumacher leading the rookies in Race 2 and starting fourth. Power lines up fifth.
