Final Practice Results Combined Practice Results
Christian Lundgaard posted the fastest lap in Saturday evening’s final practice for tomorrow night’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500. The Arrow McLaren driver, who won last month on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, posted a best lap of 169.791 mph (26.5032 seconds) on the 1.25-mile oval in Madison, Illinois.
He starts tomorrow night’s 260-lap race from 16th on the 25-car grid. Lundgaard’s previous best result in this race was last year, when he started and finished 14th.
Following Lundgaard’s Chevrolet was a trio of Hondas, with two-time WWTR winner (2020 Race 1 and 2023) Scott Dixon, who starts in seventh, was .0276 of a second back. Meyer Shank Racing’s Marcus Armstrong backed up his sixth-place qualifying effort by ending tonight’s practice in third.
Dixon’s teammate, pole sitter and NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou was fourth and Team Penske’s David Malukas was fifth. Malukas will join Palou on the front row in tomorrow night’s race.
He also posted the best lap during the earlier “high-line” session INDYCAR mandates at ovals away from the Indianapolis 500 to help create a second racing line. Malukas’ best lap in that session was 169,
The fastest rookie in the field was Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger (eighth), who makes his WWTR debut from 24th on the grid.
A.J. Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci caused one of a pair of cautions in the afternoon with an unspecified power unit issue. He was 23rd in the session before the issue knocked him out.
