Qualifying Results

Less than two years after starting fourth his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, Christian Lundgaard earned his first career pole on Friday afternoon on the same track.

He will start tomorrow’s 85-lap GMR Grand Prix on the 2.438-mile, 14-turn permanent road course in Speedway, Indiana from the front of the 27-car grid. Clocking a best lap of 1m09.3321 (126.643 mph), the Rahal letterman Lanigan driver edged out Arrow McLaren’s Felix Rosnqvist by .0027 of a second.

Per INDYCAR, it is the narrowest margin between front row starters since this qualifying format has been implemented and the fourth-closest Fast Six in that span.

Lundgaard’s previous career best start was third (Nashville 2022; started third after qualifying fourth in Portland).

In his last race on the IMS Road Course, the Hedenstead, Denmark native became the first Danish driver to score a Top Five after finishing second in July.

This is Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s 34th pole as an organization. Their last pole was at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway)-Race 2 with Takuma Sato in 2020.
