Practice Results

Following on-track preparations that moved Friday’s on-track activity to Saturday, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES made their first laps on the streets of Markham, Ontario, Canada for Sunday’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.

In the first practice on the 2.19-mile, 12-turn street circuit, series points leader Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing would post the fastest laps of the session. Boasting a 110-point lead with five of 18 races to go in the season, Palou notched a best lap of 1m14.9915 (100.811 mph).

Finishing .0539 of a second back of Palou in his A.J. Foyt Racing Chevrolet-powered entry was rookie Caio Collet. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster was third, followed by Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin and Andretti Global’s Will Power.

During the “all-skate” session, Palou’s CGR teammate Kyffin Simpson made heavy contact with the inside wall exiting Turn 6. Simpson’s car would sustain left-front suspension damage and not continue on during the session.

Multiple drivers, including Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson and Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist had minor spins during practice but continued on without further incident.
