Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Tire Designations

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, still nursing a left foot injury sustained nearly three months ago at the Indianapolis 500, led the morning warmup ahead of this afternoon’s OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway in Oregon.

Newgarden, who finished third on the 1.964-mile, 12-turn permanent road course in 2024, notched a best lap of 58.7183 seconds (120.412 mph) during the 30-minute session. Newgarden lines up 14th on the 25-car grid for this afternoon’s 110-lap race.

Finishing .3611 of a second back of Newgarden was Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Rinus VeeKay, completing a Chevrolet 1-2. VeeKay qualified a season-best fifth yesterday, the only Chevrolet in the Fast Six.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon was the fastest Honda in the field in third and starts 11th as he looks to win at Portland for the first time and extend his INDYCAR-record streak to 22 consecutive and 24 seasons overall with a victory before leaving for Arrow McLaren before the 2027 season.

Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger placed fourth, fastest among the rookies in the field as the Rookie of the Year standings leader rolls off ninth today.

Newgarden and Hauger were the only drivers to run their fastest practice laps of the weekend in the session.

Despite a pending six-position grid penalty, Newgarden’s teammate David Malukas ended the session in fifth and starts 15th in today’s race.

Saturday’s front row qualifiers, Felix Rosenqvist of Meyer Shank Racing and NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing ended the morning sixth and seventh respectively.
