2026 Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Results

Arrow McLaren would finish 1-2 for the second time in as many days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Today, it was Pato O’Ward leading the way as he won Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, besting teammate and pole sitter Christian Lundgaard by ,9877 of a second. It is O’Ward’s first victory and first podium finish of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

O’Ward led for a race-high 45 of the 90 laps in Sunday’s race, including the final 23 of the afternoon.

The 10th win of his career puts in a tie among Louis Chevrolet, Dario Resta, Pete DePaolo, Frank Lockhart and Jimmy Vasser. O’Ward is the 47th driver with at least 10 career INDYCAR victories. O’Ward last won at Toronto in 2025 and becomes the eighth driver to win multiple times on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn permanent road course in Lexington, Ohio.

Arrow McLaren would earn their first 1-2 INDYCAR finish and their 30th victory as an organization in the series. Lundgaard, who had won the previous two permanent road course events, extends his streak of Top two finishes on these circuits to four to begin that portion of the 2026 schedule. Teammate Nolan Siegel would finish 10th, getting all three drivers in the Top 10.

Following the 1-2 for the Arrow McLaren Chevrolets was the Andretti Global entry of Kyle Kirkwood, best among the Hondas.

Kirkwood, who started 10th earns his first career podium finish on a permanent road course and vaults himself back to second in the points standings. Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Rinus VeeKay matches his previous best finish of 2026 (WWTR) in fourth after starting sixth.

After starting eighth, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou would finish in fifth and hangs onto his points lead with seven races to go in the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES campaign.

A.J. Foyt Racing’s Caio Collet was best among the rookies in 11th and shrinks the deficit in Rookie of the Year standings to 16 behind Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger, who finished a lap down in 25th.

Recap

Lundgaard held the lead early on from the pole through his first pit stop of the afternoon on Lap 28. The high temperatures and long green flag runs would force the field into a three-stop strategy.

By Lap 42, Lundgaard’s rear tires had begun to fade and O’Ward made his way around for the lead on his teammate.

O’Ward made his next stop at Lap 49 and cycled back to the lead within three laps. During the ensuing stint, Arrow McLaren would shorten the run for O’Ward and Lundgaard, with the drivers taking their final stops with 24 and 26 laps to respectively.

Kirkwood found his way around VeeKay during the stops for the final step of the podium. Up front, O’Ward kept his advantage through clean air, holding off his teammate and taking the victory at Mid-Ohio.

In the first caution-free race at Mid-Ohio since 2020 (Race 1), the lead changed hands five times between four drivers with an average speed of 117.932 mph, the fastest of 43 INDYCAR races run here since 1980. The previous record was 117.825 set in 2013 with Charlie Kimball’s victory.
