A.J. Foyt Racing completed their lineup for the 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES campaign on Tuesday as Josh Pierson was officially announced to drive the No. 4 car. Pierson is the first driver to be confirmed as part of the rookie class of the upcoming season.
“I’ve been watching Josh closely for the past several seasons. Few drivers at his age have his depth of experience, and his maturity and work ethic are remarkable,” said Larry Foyt, president of AJ Foyt Racing.
Pierson joins 2026 INDYCAR Rookie of the Year Dennis Hauger in the all-new lineup for the organization.
“Over the past year, he impressed us in multiple tests in a Panoz DP01 Champ Car alongside current INDYCAR drivers, and again in our Chevy-powered car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. I believe in Josh, and we’re excited to be part of his continued development.
In 2026, the Wilsonville, Oregon native earned three front row starts (two poles- all within the final three races) during the INDY NXT by Firestone campaign.
Pierson earned his first series victory at the first race of the season-ending finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca last month.
“Being a part of AJ Foyt Racing, a team with incredible history, means the world to me. I’m excited about what Larry and the entire team are building for the future,” said Pierson. “I’m grateful for their confidence in me and look forward to my first NTT INDYCAR Series green flag at St. Pete.”
Foyt’s press release added that Pierson will drive the No. 4 “with a new sponsor spotlighting a complementary program.”
