2026 Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 Results

INDYCAR history was made on multiple fronts on Sunday afternoon at the Milwaukee Mile. Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward finished the weekend sweep after taking the checkered flag in the conclusion of Saturday’s delayed Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250.

After winning earlier on Sunday at the 1.015-mile oval in West Alis, Wisconsin, O’Ward became the first driver since Rick Mears (Atlanta Motor Speedway-1981) to win multiple INDYCAR races on the same day. The Monterey, Mexico native led a race-high 115 of 250 laps, including the final 26 and held off Team Penske’s David Malukas by 1.7535 seconds.

After finishing tenth, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou clinched the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Championship, his fourth in a row and fifth overall (all since 2021). Palou joins Sebastien Bourdais (2004-2007 ChampCar) as drivers to win four consecutive titles and trails only teammate Scott Dixon (6) and A.J. Foyt (7) for most championships all-time.

O’Ward matches his 2024 career-best with a third victory in the 2026 season and is now tied for 37th all-time in career victories at 12, matching Gil de Ferran and Cristiano da Matta.

Malukas earns his fourth runner-up finish of 2026 and sixth of his career. In third, Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Rinus VeeKay completed another charge from 24th on the grid to finish third and earns first oval podium and first since finishing runner-up at Toronto last year.

Malukas’ teammate Scott McLaughlin rebounded from his nine-place grid penalty to finish fourth and 2025 Milwaukee winner Christian Rasmussen of Ed Carpenter Racing in fifth. O’Ward’s teammate Christian Lundgaard and Penske’s Josef Newgarden finished out a Top Seven sweep by Chevrolet.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Mick Schumacher rebounded from a mid-race crash to finish 12th and close the gap in the Rookie of the Year standings to 18 behind Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger with a race left in the season.

Following the Lap 100 resumption of the race, O’Ward continued to hold the lead until the second round of pit stops. On Lap 151, the first non-weather caution of the race was brought when Schumacher spun in Turn 4 after contact with DCR’s Romain Grosjean.

Malukas and Rasmussen traded the lead a total of three times between themselves in a 42-lap run. On Lap 200, Will Power hit the wall in Turn 4, ending a disappointing day. O’Ward took back the lead following the Lap 226 restart and never looked back.

Slowed by a quartet of cautions spanning 70 laps, the race was run with an average speed of 115.601 mph. 12 lead changes (Race 2-2024) matched the previous record while the eight different leaders fell one short of the 2001 record.

The 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES campaign draws to a close next weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California at the Mission Grand Prix of Monterey.

Opening practice on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn permanent road course is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, September 4 (FS2).

The second practice of the weekend is to be run at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 5. Qualifying (three rounds, knockout-style) will be run at 4:30 p.m. (FS2). Final practice will be run at 8:00 p.m. ET (FS2).
