Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Starting Tire Designations
Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard paced Sunday morning’s warmup for the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. Lundgaard, the 2023 Toronto pole and race winner, posted a best lap of 1m14.9889 (101.557 mph). He starts on the outside of the front row in search of his third win during the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES campaign.
Finishing the 30-minute session .2865 of a second back of Lundgaard was Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Rinus VeeKay, who qualified sixth for the 90-lap race on the 2.19-mile, 12-turn temporary street circuit. Pole winner Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing continued a stellar weekend by ending the warmup in third as he leads the 25-car field to the green flag this afternoon.
Dale Coyne Racing’s Romain Grosjean and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyffin Simpson completed a 3-4-5 finish by Honda following Chevrolet’s 1-2 effort. Simpson and Grosjean start 12th and 13th in today’s race.
A.J. Foyt Racing’s Caio Collet was the fastest rookie in the morning warmup as he finished eighth. Collet will start 19th in the 90-lap race.
NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou finished 19th in the warmup after crashing in the Fast 12 yesterday and starts 11th in the race.
Six drivers posted their best practice lap of the weekend in the morning warmup.
O’Ward, Power and Kirkwood penalized for engine changes
Prior to Sunday morning’s warmup, INDYCAR announced penalties for the No. 5 Arrow McLaren (Pato O’Ward) as well as the No. 26 (Will Power) and No. 27 (Kyle Kirkwood) Andretti Global entries.
Per INDYCAR-“The entries were in violation of:
Rule 16.1.2.3.2. A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Approved Engine Change-Out if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four (4) Engines. Otherwise, a fifth (5th) or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine Change-Out.
According to Rule 16.1.6.1.2., the penalty is a six-position starting grid penalty on road and street course events and nine positions at oval events and will be served at the series’ next event, which is the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham, today, on the Streets of Markham.:
