Practice 2 Results Combined Practice Results
Two weeks after his victory at Road America and with questions about his future swirling, Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard was the leader during Saturday morning’s practice session at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course ahead of Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. Lundgaard’s Chevrolet-powered entry notched a best lap of 1m05.2158 (124.645 mph) on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn permanent road course in Lexington, Ohio.
A victory in Sunday’s race would give Lundgaard a win on each of the last three NTT INDYCAR SERIES races on permanent road courses, following his second-place effort at Barber Motorsports Park on March 29.
Finishing the session as the best Honda entry in the field was Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster, who finished .0738 of a second back of Lundgaard. Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood followed yesterday’s P2 finish during opening practice with a P3 in this run. Team Penske’s David Malukas and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Alexander Rossi rounded out the Top Five in their Chevrolet entries.
NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou was sixth as the Chip Ganassi Racing driver looks for his sixth consecutive pole. After leading Friday’s opening session, Andretti Global’s Will Power finished ninth after leading Friday practice.
Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Sting Ray Robb spun in Turn 2 early on in the session but sustained minimal damage and was 15th overall. As the second of a pair of group sessions drew to a close, Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger spun in Turn 6 and the rookie driver made contact with the inside tire barrier, damaging his rear wing.
Hauger finished the session 25th, while Rookie of the Year competitors Mick Schumacher of RLLR was 19th and Caio Collet of A.J. Foyt Racing was 20th.
All 25 drivers ran a lap faster than Friday during the combined sessions on Saturday morning.
