After leading Day 1 of qualifying for the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, Arrow McLaren’s Felix Rosenqvist backed up his Saturday effort with another run topping the leaderboard.
Qualifying last among Saturday’s Fast 12, the No. 6 turned in a four-lap average of 234.081. Joining him in the Fast Six are teammate Pato O’Ward (sixth), along with the Chip Ganassi Racing duo of Alex Palou and Scott Dixon.
Chevrolet swept the provisional front row this afternoon, as A.J. Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Rinus VeeKay.
Five of the six drivers starting between 7th to 12th are former winners, with Ferrucci’s teammate Benjamin Pedersen solidifying his spot as the best rookie in this year’s field (11th). 2018 race winner Will Power is 12th, carrying the proverbial torch for Team Penske.
Defending race winner Marcus Ericsson starts ninth. On the third row, Arrow McLaren teammates Alexander Rossi and Tony Kanaan are joined by the eighth-place qualifier Takuma Sato.
Rosenqvist, Ferrucci, VeeKay and O’Ward are looking for Chevrolet’s first “500” pole since 2019 (Simon Pagenaud). Palou is looking for Ganassi’s seventh and Honda’s fourth consecutive pole. Dixon’s shot at being the first driver to win three consecutive poles and tying Rick Mears’ all-time record with six pole wins is still in play.
O’Ward is slated first to qualify, followed by Dixon, Palou, VeeKay, Ferrucci and Rosenqvist bookending the run for the pole with his teammate.
