Andretti Autosport with Curb-Agajanian’s Colton Herta topped the 27-car grid in Sunday morning’s 30-minute warmup. In preparation for this afternoon’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the No. 26 posted a best lap of 1m00.5886 (106.951 mph) on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street circuit. Herta will start second in today’s race.

Honda, whose engines have powered the leaders of all but one session this weekend, earned the top four spots in the warmup. Callum Ilott of Juncos Hollinger Racing was the fastest Chevrolet in fifth.

Pole winner Romain Grosjean finished the session 11th. Defending race winner Scott McLaughlin finished 17th and will start sixth after a spin during the Fast Six. 2022 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Champion Will Power finished eighth as he looks for a third win at St. Petersburg from 10th starting spot.

Aside from a minor half-spin in Turn 10 by Arrow McLaren’s Felix Rosenqvist as the session drew to a close, the final practice was run without incident. Fortunately, the No. 6 was able to remain under power and return to the course without a caution. This afternoon, he will roll off eighth on the grid.

Moments later, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden suffered a rear lock-up in the same area. Like Rosenqvist, the driver of the No. 2 was able to continue on. The 2019 and 2020 St. Petersburg winner starts 13th in today’s race.

On-track sessions ahead of the first race of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season are complete. Here is a look at the schedule for this afternoon’s race.
