Thank you for reading and I hope you had a great weekend. Here are some of the top headlines for the weekend in racing.
- Jeff Gordon won his first race of the season and clinched a spot in the championship finale at Homestead, as Joey Logano was taken out of the race in a payback maneuver by Matt Kenseth stemming from the latter being spun by the former at Kansas. Kenseth, who was parked for the race by NASCAR,may also have additional punishments later in the week, and it will be worth seeing how his compares to similar circumstances in the past.
- Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Antron Brown (Top Fuel) each clinched their second championship, the former while winning at Las Vegas. Doug Kalitta (TF), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) joined Enders-Stevens on the winners’ stage. With two titles very much up for grabs, the finals in Pomona in two weeks will be a tense time for several drivers in Pro Stock Motorcycle and Funny Car.
- Nico Rosberg turned in a dominating performace in Mexico for his first win since Austria in June. Although teammate Lewis Hamilton has already clinched the world championship, Rosberg will be looking to use these last few races to gain confidence for 2016, something he began to do with Sunday’s win.
Have a great week and see you soon.
