Practice 1 Results Qualifying Order

During opening practice for the final round of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES campaign, championship runner-up Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren ran the fastest lap on the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee for tomorrow’s Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix presented by WillScot.

O’Ward, who also finished runner-up in the 2024 race, posted a best lap of 202.357 mph (23.6612 seconds).

Arrow McLaren’s Chevrolets would alternate the Top four with Andretti Global’s Hondas. Last year’s pole winner Kyle Kirkwood was .0447 of a second back from O’Ward’s best lap. Christian Lundgaard and 2024 race winner Colton Herta followed on the lap chart, with three-time Nashville Superspeedway winner Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi in fifth.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster was 14th as he looks to wrap up Rookie of the Year honors. Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing was 16th as he wraps up his fourth championship five years.

Rasmussen and Ilott handed penalties

Before this morning’s practice, INDYCAR announced penalties for the No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing (Christian Rasmussen) and No. 90 PREMA Racing (Callum Ilott) entries. Per INDYCAR:

“The entries were in violation of:Rule 16.1.2.3.2. A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four (4) Engines. Otherwise, a fifth (5th) or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine change-out.According to Rule 16.1.6.1.2., the penalty is a six-position starting grid penalty on road and street course events and nine positions at oval events and will be served at the series’ next event, which is the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix presented by WillScot Sunday, Aug. 31 at Nashville Superspeedway.”
