2025 Java Hose Grand Prix of Monterey Results
Alex Palou continued his phenomenal 2025 with another spectacular drive at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, winning Sunday’s Java House Grand Prix of Monterey in his Chip Ganassi Racing Honda entry.
It is Palou’s third win in five appearances on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn road course in Salinas, California and his fifth podium finish at this course.
Palou wins for the eighth time in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season (most in any season since 2007 ChampCar-Sebastien Bourdais). It is his 19th career INDYCAR victory, tying Jimmy Murphy, Jimmy Bryan and Sam Hornish Jr. for 25th all-time.
Palou beat the Arrow McLaren Chevrolet of Christian Lundgaard by 3.7965 seconds to win the 95-lap race, leading for 84 of them, including the last 59. Lundgaard earns his fifth podium of 2025.

Andretti Global’s Colton Herta finished third and notches his second podium of 2025. Lundgaard’s teammate Pato O’Ward finished the day in fourth and is 121 points back of Palou with three races to go in the 17-race season.
Palou’s teammate Scott Dixon bookended the Top Five for CGR, while PREMA Racing earned their best finish as Callum Ilott would place sixth. Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was 17th and leads the Rookie of the Year standings over PREMA Racing’s Robert Shwartzman by four points.
Race Recap
Herta was able to slide past O’Ward for second at the start of the race as Palou held the lead. Further back, Conor Daly of Juncos Hollinger Racing made contact with PREMA Racing’s Robert Shwartzman, sending both spinning into the gravel trap on the inside of Turn 3.
Further up the track, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyffin Simpson crashed in Turn 6, collecting Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist. Simpson’s day ended without completing a lap but Rosenqvist continued on, three laps down.

Following the Lap 6 restart, Palou continued to hold the lead. On Lap 11, Jacob Abel suffered a rear brake issue and skidded off into the Andretti Hairpin’s tire barrier (between Turns 1-2).
Once the race went back to green on Lap 14, Palou would continue to lead as the opening fuel and tire stat drew to a close.
During the opening round of green-flag stops, Andrettti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood made contact with the Dale Coyne Racing entry of Rinus VeeKay in Turn 3, sending the latter spinning into the tire barrier.
Once the leaders completed their pit stops, the caution flag was thrown for the third Tim on the day. Kirkwood was sassed a stop-and-go penalty for the contact.
During the ensuing caution, Palo Alto native Nolan Siegel was able to lead in his Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Palou found his way around Siegel on Lap 37 and once again set sail. Lundgaard passed Herta for second during the penultimate cycle of pit stops.
The first three in the running order remained in place as the final round of pit stops were made. On Lap 77, Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson spun in Turn 6. After he was unable to get his car restarted, a full-course yellow was displayed for the fourth time on the afternoon, with a restart on Lap 81.
On Lap 85, A.J. Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci spun near the top of the Corkscrew in Turn 8, prompting the fifth caution of the afternoon. While O’Ward found his way around Dixon for th fourth-place finish, Palou, Lundgaard and Herta held on for the podium in Salinas, California.
Slowed by five cautions over 13 laps, the race was slowed to an average speed of 102.051 mph and featured a pair of lead changes between Palou and Siegel.

It was Siegel’s first race leading since he led eight laps in 2024 at WWTR (Gateway), the second race he’s led in 25 NTT INDYCAR SERIES appearances.

Opening Practice on the 1.964-mile, 11-turn circuit in Portland, Oregon is set for 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday, August 8 (FS2). Second practice will be at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 9 (FS1), with qualifying at 2:30 p.m. ET. (FS1). Final practice will be at 8:30 p.m. ET (FS2).
