2025 Farm to Finish 275 Results

After starting on the pole, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou led 194 of 275 laps, including the final 28 to win Sunday’s Farm to Finish 275 presented by Sukup at Iowa Speedway, the second race in the doubleheader weekend at the .894-mile short oval.

It is Palou’s first win at the Newton, Iowa oval in eight starts. This is his seventh victory of 2025 (most in a season since 2007-Sebastien Bourdais in ChampCar) and 18th career.

Palou is now tied with Ryan Hunter-Reay for 27th on the all-time INDYCAR win list.

The runaway NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader finished .528 of a second ahead of CGR teammate Scott Dixon.

CGR has their third victory at Iowa and first since 2009 and their first 1-2 at the venue.

Marcus Armstrong of Meyer Shank Racing finished third in Honda’s first podium sweep at Iowa since 2015. It is also the first podium for Armstrong since Detroit in 2024 (also 3rd). MSR shares a technical alliance with Ganassi.

A.J. Foyt Racing’s David Malukas was best among the Chevrolet entries in fourth, with Saturday’s winner Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren in fifth.

Palou now leads the standings by 129 from O’Ward with five races to go in the 17-race season.

PREMA Racing’s Robert Shwartzman notched his career-best result in ninth, his second consecutive oval Top 10 finish. Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing finished 14th and leads Shwartzman by five in the Rookie of the Year standings.

Race Recap

Hours before the race, INDYCAR announced that Nolan Siegel of Arrow McLaren would not be cleared to drive in today’s race. Siegel was diagnosed with a mild concussion following a crash in Saturday’s race.

Arrow McLaren would not field a replacement driver, leaving the field at 26 drivers. Siegel will be re-evaluated on Thursday before his status for the weekend in Toronto is determined.

While the 26-car field got away cleanly at the start, the first lap would not be completed without a caution. Between Turns 3 and 4, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Devlin DeFrancesco spun between Turns 3 and 4, collecting Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin.

A day after starting 20th and finishing 19th, DeFrancesco’s race ended without completing a lap.

McLaughlin, who raced from 27th to fourth in Saturday’s race, would finish 26th behind DeFrancesco.

After completing just 22 laps, Will Power went onto pit road and would soon be out of the race. After finishing third, Power suffered a third DNF (did not finish) in five races.

On Lap 53, Sting Ray Robb spun and made hard contact with the outside wall in Turn 2, marking a second crashing as many years for the Juncos Hollinger Racing driver in as many years during this race.

Newgarden finished 10th in Sunday’s race (Aaron Skillman/INDYCAR)

Following the Lap 65 restart, Newgarden would grab the lead from Palou the following lap. On Lap 130, Newgarden would pit seconds before Marcus Ericsson hit the outside wall in Turn 4, ending his day and bringing out a third caution on the afternoon.

With 98 remaining, Callum Ilott spun and the PREMA Racing driver crashed between Turns 3 and 4. A day after crashing in Turn 2, Ilott’s day would end prematurely once again.

Soon after the Lap 191 restart, Palou worked his way past Kirkwood as he, Malukas and Daly followed.

On Lap 241, Newgarden fought past Malukas then Palou for the race lead shortly before each driver mad their last pit stop of the day..

With 22 laps remaining, Colton Herta suffered a right-front tire failure, making contact with the wall in Turn 2 and prompting a fifth caution flag of the afternoon. After the restart on Lap 265, Palou would go unchallenged en route to another victory in his record-breaking season.

Today’s race featured six lead changes among three drivers, the latter tying Race 1 of the 2022 doubleheader for the fewest in the race’s history. Five cautions would slow the race to an average speed of 135.761 mph.
