Final Practice Results Combined Practice Results
Ahead of tomorrow night’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500, A.J. Foyt Racing’s David Malukas posted the best lap in the final 45-minute practice session. Malukas, who finished second and third in this race in 2022 and 2023, posted a best lap of 176.799 mph (25.4527 seconds) on the 1.25-mile Worldwide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois.
Maluaks rolls off fourth in tomorrow night’s 260-lap race. He would also lead the “high-line” practices, the splits 10-minute group sessions held before practice. Malukas’ best lap during that portion was 173.024 mph (26.0079 seconds).
Last year’s race winner Josef Newgarden was next on the lap sheet, .2187 of a second back of Malukas’ best time. Newgarden, who led the opening practice session earlier today, starts fifth as he looks for his sixth victory at WWTR.
Points leader Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing was best among the Honda-powered entries in the field behind the Chevrolets of Malukas and Newgarden. He starts ninth in his seventh race at WWTR.
Teammate Scott Dixon was fourth. Dixon (2020 Race 1 and 2023) its the only driver besides Newgarden to win multiple times at WWTR and starts 11th.
Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard made it three Chevrolets in the Top Five. He starts 14th in tomorrow’s race. Newgarden’s teammates Will Power and Scott McLaughlin finished 16th and 20th in practice and share the front row tomorrow night.
Christian Rasmussen of Ed Carpenter Racing wads 19th and starts 25th in his first INDYCAR appearance at WWTR. Rasmussen won the 2023 INDY NXT race at WWTR.
Robert Shwartzman of PREMA Racing was best among the drivers competing for Rookie of the Year. After finishing the session in 23rd, he starts 24th in his second INDYCAR oval race.
