Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou picked up where he left off yesterday at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama. The points leader and 2021 race winner posted a best lap of 1m07.9015-(121.941 mph) on the 2.3-mile, 17-turn permanent road course. He will start from the pole in today’s 90-lap race, the first at Barber for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Track record holder and 2022 race winner Pato O’Ward was second on this morning’s time chart, .2479 of a second back in his Arrow McLaren Chevrolet.

Andretti Global’s Colton Herta finished third and will start there in the race today. Palou’s teammate Scott Dixon was fourth but rolls off 26th of 27 cars. Dixon, who has finished second here dix times, is still in search of his first win at Barber.

Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin was fifth in the session as he looks for an unprecedented third consecutive win at Barber. He will start from second in today’s race and would match teammate Josef Newgarden for most victories at Barber with another win today.

After making his first career appearance in the Fast Six, O’Ward’s teammate Nolan Siegel was best among the four drivers making their first start at Barber. Jacob Abel of Dale Coyne Racing in 21st was best among the trio of drivers vying for Rookie of the Year honors.
