Practice 1 Results

Team Penske’s Will Power set the fastest lap time during the opening practice for this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The 2008 and 2012 winner at the California street circuit posted a best lap of 1m07.3227 (105.236 mph) on the 1.968-mile, 11-turn course.

Power’s lap was posted at the end of the second of two split group sessions that were preceded by a 45-minute session for the full 27-car field, which has become the norm for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in opening practice on street courses.

Andretti Global led the way for the Honda-powered contingent in the field. Teammate Kyle Kirkwood, the 2023 pole and race winner, was third with the Meyer Shank Racing duo of Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist rounding out the Top Five. Rosenqvist was the pole winner at Long Beach in 2024.

Alex Palou recorded his best lap of the session during the opening segment. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is seeking his third consecutive victory to start 2025.

Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was the best among the field’s trio of rookies, 15th overall. There were no major incidents or stoppages during the running of the 75-minute practices.
