Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Starting Lineup Tire Designations
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden was quickest during Sunday morning’s final warmup for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
The 2019 and 2020 race winner posted a best lap of 1m01.1952 (105.891) in his Chevrolet-powered entry. He starts this afternoon’s 100-lap race in 10th.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon was the fastest Honda in second, .3474 of a second back of Newgarden’s best lap. Dixon will roll off the grid sixth as he seeks his first win in St. Petersburg.
Teammate Alex Palou was third as he begins his quest for a third consecutive NTT INDYCAR SERIES Championship from eighth on the grid.
Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist was fourth and will start the race in third. A.J. Foyt Racing’s David Malukas was fifth and starts 17th in his first race with the organization.
Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was the fastest of the three rookies in 12th. He starts his INDYCAR debut from 16th on the grid.
Pole sitter Scott McLaughlin caused a local yellow late in the warmup after a lock-up forced him into the runoff area of Turn 10. Fortunately, McLaughlin continued on without significant issues. He would end the session in 21st among the 27-car field.
