Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson ran the quickest lap in Saturday morning’s practice for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. The 2023 race winner notched a best lap of 1m00.5151 (107.081 mph) during the 45-minute session.

Dale Coyne Racing’s Rinus VeeKay was second in the session, .093 of a second back of Ericsson. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou was next in a 1-2-3 for Honda-powered entries.

Arrow McLaren’s Nolan Siegel was best among the Chevrolet entries in fourth. Siegel begins his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES season but is making his first start on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street course in St. Petersburg, Florida. Siegel won last year’s INDY NXT By Firestone race at the venue.

Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Conor Daly would finish out the Top 5. 2022 pole and race winner Scott McLaughlin rebounded from yesterday’s practice crash and subsequent repairs to wind up 18th in the running order.

After leading yesterday’s practice, Ericsson’s teammate Kyle Kirkwood was ninth. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster was 21st, again best among the trio of rookies in the 27-car field.

Although Team Penske’s Will Power and PREMA Racing’s Robert Shwartzman each suffered hybrid and radio issues respectively, the practice was completed without any major incident.
