Qualifying Results

A.J. Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci continued a career year on Saturday, winning pole for tomorrow’s BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland. In the final round of qualifying, Ferrucci notched a best lap of 58.2046 seconds (121.475 mph) to earn his first career pole in his 74th NTT INDYCAR SERIES start.

Ferrucci made the most of his first appearance in a Fast Six on a road course. Previously, the Woodbury, Connecticut native started second during the second race of a Mid-Ohio doubleheader and fourth at last year’s Indianapolis 500.

His previous best start at Portland was 14th in 2019, while his best finish at the 1.964-mile, 12-turn Oregon road course was a 16th in last year’s race

It is A.J. Foyt Racing’s 46th pole and first since Takuma Sato at Belle Isle Race 2 in 2014. This also eclipses their previous best qualifying effort at Portland, which was 10th in 1993 with Robby Gordon.
