Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Starting Lineup
Following a violent crash at the end of Saturday’s qualifying session, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden was fastest during the final 30-minute warmup for today’s XPEL Grand Prix at Road America.
The 2018 and 2022 race winner posted a best lap of 1m43.1311 (140.117 mph) on the 4.014-mile, 14-turn permanent road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Newgarden will start sixth in this afternoon’s 55-lap race.
Teammate Scott McLaughlin was second-fastest, .2947 of a second back and rolls off eighth. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon was best among the Honda entries in third and will start tenth.
Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Romain Grosjean was fourth in the practice and will start 14th in today’s race. Outside pole sitter Colton Herta of Andretti Global was fifth.
Pole sitter Linus Lundqvist was 17th in the session, best among the rookies in his Chip Ganassi Racing entry.
Halfway through the session, Christian Rasmussen spun in Turn 14, stalling in the gravel trap adjacent to the racing surface. The red flag would be displayed and the Ed Carpenter Racing rookie would be towed back to pit lane.
After a three-minute, 11-second stoppage, the session would be completed without further incident.
