Practice Results Combined Practice Results
After today’s Indianapolis 500 practice was moved up to 10 a.m. from its original noon start time, there would not be cars on track until 3:05 p.m. at the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Once the 34 cars vying for a spot in the 33-car field on May 26 got going, it would be Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin leading 1-2 with teammate Will Power.
McLaughlin, the 2021 Rookie of the Year turned a best lap of 229.493 mph (39.2168 seconds). 2018 winner Power was .1246 of a second back of his teammate.
Andretti Global’s Colton Herta was best among the Hondas in third. 2023 race winner Josef Newgarden followed his Penske teammates in fourth. Arrow McLaren rounded out the Top Five with 2016 winner Alexander Rossi.
Chevrolet had four of the top five and six of the Top 10.
Points leader and last year’s pole winner Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing was eight. Arrow McLaren rookie Kyle Larson was fastest among the seven rookies in 15th.

Thursday’s practice is slated for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. following another shortened practice from today.
