After making an impressive debut with his first two races, Théo Pourchaire has been announced as the driver of the No. 6 entry for 11 of the final 12 races in the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
Pourchaire will continue his role with the organization beginning with this weekend’s Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
The moves come after David Malukas was released by the team on April 29.
He will not be the driver for this month’s Indianapolis 500. Arrow McLaren will announce that at a later date.
“The NTT INDYCAR SERIES has some of the best racing in motorsport, and now I can say that with experience,” Pourchaire noted in Thursday’s announcement.
Earlier this week, the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Champion completed his rookie oval test at Worldwide Technology Raceway (Gateway).
“I’m excited to take on this challenge with Arrow McLaren for the rest of the season. This is a special opportunity, and I am committed to learning and improving as we get on track each race weekend. I’ve enjoyed my first two races with the team, and I know we have plenty of potential in front of us. Of course, I would like to thank Zak, Gavin and Tony, as well as the Sauber F1 Team, for making this all possible.”
In his debut at Long Beach, Pourchaire improved 11 positions from his qualifying spot and finished 11th. Two weeks ago at Barber Motorsports Park, he started 24th and finished 22nd.
“We’re excited to continue working with Théo,” Arrow McLaren Team Principal Gavin Ward noted.
“He proved to be a quick learner, and we believe his skillset and learning mindset will support his development as he gets more comfortable racing in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Now, it’s about continuing to grow and turning those learnings into results alongside the No. 6 team.”
