Warmup Results Starting Lineup Combined Practice Results
2021 pole and race winner Colton Herta was fastest in Sunday morning’s 30-minute warmup for this afternoon’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. The Andretti Global racer, who starts the 2024 opener fourth, posted a best lap of 59.9267 seconds (108.132 mph) on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon was the only driver to join Herta in the sub-minute bracket during the session. He starts 11th as he looks for his first win at St. Petersburg. Dixon’s teammate Alex Palou made it a 1-2-3 effort for Honda-powered cars and rolls of 13th this afternoon.
2022 pole and race winner Scott McLaughlin of Team Penske was fourth (fastest Chevrolet) and will start today’s 100-lap race in ninth. McLaughlin’s teammate and today’s pole sitter Josef Newgarden rounded out the Top Five.
Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist, who broke the track record and starts second today, finished tenth. Chip Ganassi Racing also boasted the highest-placing rookie in the session, as Linus Lundqivst was 11th of 27 drivers. He will start 19th.
Although Rosenqvist (Turn 10) and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Rinus VeeKay (Turn 1) saw off-track excursions was the session drew to a close, there were no stoppages in the last pre-race tuneup.
