Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Starting Grid
Following a fog delay and ensuing wait for the arrival of the medical helicopter, the morning warmup for Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California was shortened to eight minutes.
In the session, Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood (1m07.8939-118.686 mph) was the fastest and rolls off 17th in the 95-lap event. Marcus Ericsson, who starts 18th in his last race with Chip Ganassi Racing was second in the eight-minute session, .1916 of a second back.
While an engine change penalty will move him from 13th to 19th, Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Agustin Canapino was the fastest rookie and best Chevrolet among the field in third. 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Champion and defending race winner Alex Palou was fourth, two spots back of teammate Ericsson.
Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin was fifth and starts on the outside of the front row. Pole winner Felix Rosenqvist was 24th as he prepares for his last start with Arrow McLaren.
