Four days after securing their 15th INDYCAR Championship and first 1-2 finish in the standings in 14 years, Chip Ganassi Racing’s driver lineup for 2024 has been solidified.

On Thursday morning, the organization announced Marcus Armstrong has been signed to a multi-year contract.

After competing on the road and street circuits this season, the Christchurch, New Zealand native moves to full-time for his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

“I am very proud and excited to continue with Chip Ganassi Racing for next year and beyond. Together with this very talented and experienced team, I am confident we can compete at the highest level in this championship,” he exclaimed in this morning’s announcement.

“I feel very grateful that Chip has given me the time to adapt to INDYCAR and has helped me every step of the way in what has been a good season.”

In his first 11 races, Armstrong has a best finish of seventh at the August race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.

His best start was a seventh on the streets of Toronto in July. After spending the previous three seasons in Formula 2, he is currently 20th in points.

Armstrong leads the Rookie of the Year standings by 26 points over Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Agustin Canapino.

Marcus Armstrong has proven in 2023 his quick adaptation to INDYCAR road and street tracks. He’s ready to be a full-time Chip Ganassi Racing INDYCAR driver,” said Chip Ganassi Racing Managing Director Mike Hull.

“Winning is integrated into his racing resume. This includes his pursuit of the 2023 INDYCAR Rookie of the Year. “

Armstrong will make his first oval appearance at Texas Motor Speedway during a test on Wednesday (September 13).

He joins a rookie class for May’s Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge that includes 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kyle Larson driving for Arrow McLaren and Meyer Shank Racing’s Tom Blomqvist.

At CGR, Armstrong joins Linus Lundqvist, who was confirmed to replace Marcus Ericsson last week, as well as Alex Palou and Scott Dixon, the top two finishers in this year’s championship.
