Meyer Shank Racing has completed their driver lineup for the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. This morning, the organization confirmed it has signed driver Felix Rosenqvist to a multi-year dear.
The Varmao, Sweden native will drive the No. 60 car for the team alongside Tom Blomqvist, who will compete for Rookie of the Year honors in 2024. Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves will return for the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
“I’m super excited to start the next chapter of my INDYCAR career together with MSR,” said Rosenqvist in Tuesday’s announcement.
Making his series debut in 2019 with Chip Ganassi Racing, the 2019 INDYCAR Rookie of the Year has spent the last three seasons with Arrow McLaren. In 77 career starts, Rosenqvist has one victory (Road America 2-2020) and four pole positions. This season, he’s earned one pole position (Texas) and finished second on Sunday at Portland, his best effort of 2023.
“This will be a great opportunity for myself and MSR to elevate and get to the next level together. I’m also pretty excited to get to work with my old friend Tom (Blomqvist) again. I’m ready to start working together and getting the next season started.”
Meyer Shank Racing is the first team to have an entirely new driver lineup confirmed for 2024.
“We’re very excited to have our 2024 INDYCAR plans finalized and to welcome Felix (Rosenqvist) to the team,” said Mike Shank, Co-Owner of the Pataskala, Ohio-based outfit.
“Felix has been someone that has been on our radar for quite some time now and everything lined up this year to work something out with him. It’s no secret that we’ve had a difficult season, with some things out of our control and some things in our control. I think we are all looking forward to resetting completely, starting over and getting to work. I think Tom and Felix will work great together and really feed off of each other. We will also have Helio with us at every race to provide his feedback and advice which will be an added bonus, so I think we’re in for a solid year ahead.”
On Sunday at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Castroneves will conclude his 21st full-time season, his last. Blomqvist will make his third start in the No. 60 as Simon Pagenaud has not competed since a July 1 practice crash at mid-Ohio.
