Although the first practice at the 1.25-mile Worldwide Technology Raceway (Gateway) is 11 days away, major changes were announced in preparation for next weekend’s Bommaritio Automotive Group 500.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing announced that Conor Daly will pilot the No.30 entry, replacing Jack Harvey.

“First, I would like to thank Jack Harvey for all of his efforts on behalf of RLL for the last year and a half,” Car Co-Owner Bobby Rahal noted in Tuesday’s announcement.

“He committed fully to the team but for whatever reason, we weren’t able to achieve the results that he or the team deserves and we wish him well in the future.”

Harvey joined RLLR in 2022, switching over to the No. 30 for this year after spending his first year with the team in the No. 45.

The Bassingham, England native had a best start of fourth with RLLR(IMS Road Course May 2023) with a best finish of 10th (Nashville 2022).

In 79 career INDYCAR starts, his best finish is 3rd (Indy GP 2019) with three front row starts, the most recent of which being at St. Petersburg in 2021.

In Tuesday’s release, RLLR added the driver for the September 3 race at Portland and the September 10 finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will be announced later on.

“We will use the final three races of the season to gauge other racing talent” Rahal added.

“I’m very pleased that Conor has agreed to join us in St. Louis. He’s been strong there and I feel that he can bring value to the team while also providing us with a strong effort. I look forward to having him with us.”

Daly, who parted ways with Ed Carpenter Racing in June, has a best start of 11th and finish of fifth at Gateway (2017 with A.J. Foyt Racing).

“I will obviously do the best job that I can for them to make them proud and make their partners proud and I hope to be able to deliver everything they are looking for,” Daly exclaimed.

“I’m excited for the chance to get back behind the wheel at one of my favorite tracks at World Wide Technology Raceway.”

In 107 career INDYCAR starts, the Noblesville, Indiana native has a best finish of 2nd (Belle Isle 2016 Race 2) and one pole (2020 Iowa Race 1).

His best start (15th) and finish in 2023 to date was at the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge in May. Daly has made three starts with Meyer Shank Racing (Mid-Ohio and the Iowa doubleheader) in place of Simon Pagenaud this year as well.
