Scott Dixon paces final warmup in Toronto

In the final on-track session before Sunday afternoon’s Honda Indy Toronto, four-time race winner Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing led the 27-car field.

Looking to earn his first win of 2023, the defending race winner clocked a best lap of 1m01.3208 (104.852 mph) on the 1.785-mile, 11-turn street circuit on Exhibition Place. He will start seventh in today’s 85-lap race. Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Autosport, who starts eighth alongside Dixon, was second, .0602 of a second back of Dixon.

Two-time race winner Josef Newgarden was the best Chevrolet entry in third and the Team Penske driver rolls off 11th.

Points leader Alex Palou was fifth and starts 15th in search of his fourth consecutive victory. After winning pole on Saturday afternoon, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Christian Lundgaard was sixth.

In 11th, Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Agustin Canapino was best among the five rookies. With all pre-race sessions completed, teams will now put the finishing touches on preparations for the 10th of 17 rounds in the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
