Continuing the success already established during the first half of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, Andretti Autosport boasted a 1-2 finish during Friday’s opening practice for the Honda Indy Toronto.

The Long Beach pole and race winner notched a best lap of 1m00.8075 (105.737) on the 1.785-mile, 11-turn temporary Canadian street course. Teammate Romain Grosjean finished second, .050 of a second back of the No. 27 car. Felix Rosenqvist of Arrow McLaren was best among the Chevrolet entrants in third.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou kicked off his bid for a fourth consecutive win in 12th on the speed chart as he looks to extend his 110-point lead over teammate and 2022 race winner Scott Dixon.

Agustin Canapino of Juncos Hollinger Racing was the fastest of the five rookies in this weekend’s field (20th). Making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut for a recovering Simon Pagenaud, Meyer Shank Racing’s Tom Blomqvist ran a session-high 33 laps and was 26th of 27 entrants.
