Warmup Results Combined Practice Results Starting Lineup
For the third time in as many practices, Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi led the way at Road America. The 2019 race winner will start fifth in his No.7 Chevrolet as he looks for a fourth consecutive Top Five and fifth straight Top 10 finish. Rossi’s best lap was a 1m41.7917 (141.960 mph) on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course.
Two-time Road America winner (2017 and 2020 Race 1) Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing was second on the chart as the fastest Honda, .0163 of a second off Rossi’s best time. After a pre-qualifying practice crash and struggling during yesterday’s qualifying, The No.9 starts 23rd on the 27-car grid.
2016 race winner Will Power rebounded after a frustrating Saturday to end the 30-minute warmup third and starts 22nd. Rossi’s teammate and outside pole sitter Pato O”Ward was fourth. After having to replace the engine in his Andretti Autosport entry, Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the Top Five. Due to not being able to record a qualifying time in the final round, he start sixth.
Today’s pole sitter and Kirkwood’s teammate Colton Herta ended the session 20th. Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing’s Sting Ray Robb was best among the rookies in 11th.
An off-season repave has thrown another challenge for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES field this weekend. During Sunday morning’s warmup, two red flags were displayed for separate spins. Ed Carpenter Racing;’s Ryan Hunter-Reay spun in Turn 6 early on but was able to continue. He starts his debut with ECR from 27th.
Andretti Autosport’s Romain Grosjean would also spin in Canada Corner (Turn 12) but continued on and he will start 20th.
