Simon Pagenaud leads warmup at Detroit Grand Prix

Warmup Results Starting Lineup Pit Assignments Spotter Guide

Ahead of Sunday’s 100-lap Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, Meyer Shank Racing’s Simon Pagenaud led this morning’s 30-minute warmup. The 2013 winner of Race 2 on the Belle Isle circuit posted a best lap of 1m02.3615 (94.962 mph) on the 1.7-mile, 9-turn temporary street circuit in Michigan.

Pagenaud starts eighth, his best qualifying effort since he started third in the 2022 race on Belle Isle.

Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Callum Ilott was the quickest Chevrolet, finishing in second, .1203 of a. second back of Pagenaud’s Honda. Ilott qualified 16th.

The Chip Ganassi Racing duo of rookie Marcus Armstrong and Scott Dixon followed. Dixon, who led Saturday morning’s practice, starts fourth as he looks to make it six wins on new/returning venues. He won in 2012 when the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returned to Belle Isle after a three-year absence.

Armstrong was again the highest-qualifying rookie in 11th,

Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge winner Josef Newgarden of Team Penske in fifth. Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, who led Friday’s opening practice, was sixth.

After winning his second consecutive pole yesterday, points leader Alex Palou finished seventh.

Following two chaotic practice sessions, the 30-minute warmup was completed without major incident. Now, final preparations will be made for this afternoon’s race.
